A car club or a car crew, call it what you will. We at AutoMods have always been interested in forming a car club ourselves, so we have high respect for any one who has formed or is a part of such a club. After a brief meeting with a few of the Redlinerz members, it was clear that these young men are true lovers of modified autos.
I must thank Darren for his assistance in getting the photo shoots together and helping with this article. This is an ongoing article that will change with the addition of more of the members' cars. So be on the look out for more from the Redlinerz. The cars you see now are just a drop in the bucket. Specs of each car will be in the updated version of this article.
This is just the intro.
Redlinerz was originated from the University of Technology (UTECH) from as far back as 2003. It started out as three friends who had the same interest in cars. They loved the sight of them, the sound and performance. While they used to hang out a lot, there were other people who also liked the vibe of car enthusiasts hanging together, so they started to populate more and more until the group began to grow.
They were still just a group up until the point of graduation. It wasn't until after leaving school that the club was formed. It all started when they had discussions that they still wanted to link up, so one Friday they called up the whole massive from school to link up at the Photo Express, Lliguanea. The turn out was amazing. A lot of cars showed up. It was mostly persons from school and friends of persons from school who had heard about them. Then through all of this came an idea to form a club which would keep the unity between them as friends and start a family of car enthusiasts. From then was formed Team Redlinerz!
The name Redlinerz came about while they where googleing about car clubs, looking for ideas. They came across RedlinerzMD, which was a motorbike club, so they took it and ran with it. Re-designed the logo and made it their own.
To date, Redlinerz has approximately 57 members that are registered. The club consists of people with cars, bikes and of course those with none of the above.
There are different aspects to Redlinerz. There is the Team Redlinerz that are into motor sports. Back in 2005, Shaun Barns won the 16sec class at Vernam Field with an almost stock 1994 Honda civic. There is Raymore, who also won the 13sec class with his turbo charged Toyota Cynos.
There is the Redlinerz that is more like a family, who come together to hang out and talk about cars, performance and modifications, and make trips to the country etc.
Since 2004 to now Redlinerz has come a long way; they have reconstructed themselves from the ground up. A meeting is held every two weeks, where plans are made and concerns for the club are laid out. They also collect dues, which are used for club purposes and benefits. Redlinerz has affiliated itself with various organizations allowing its club members discounts on tires, insurance and parts. Also they are the 1st club to have an anthem along with a music video.
