This is a throw back from the first attempt at getting Automods off the ground. We did this photo shoot from 2004; WOW, that's a long time. So when we say Jamaica 's First web site dedicated to Automotive Modifications, we are not joking. The Automods team thanks the owner of this car for the opportunity to have photographed this car at the time we did.
We at Automods have been Civic lovers for years. Our plans have always included creating a project Civic. So our interest was sparked when we saw this car for the first time. At the time of the feature the owner was considering a new set up with bigger turbo and more horses.
With the future plans in mind, the car of the day was still at a good place for a 2000 Honda Civic SiR (hatchback). This car came Stock with: B16A, 8,200 rpm redline, A/C, power windows, sunroof, ABS, driver and passenger airbags and a 5-speed manual gearbox. Sounds like baby stuff but you know, after strapping on a turbine, you got something going with a few more essential additions.
Giving a Civic a good street look, you know you must have it sitting well, and so he did with 5Zigen 17" rims rapped in Falken tyres, dropped and riding firm with a set of A'pexi World Sport Damper Coilovers. This set up is almost standard for having a head turning Civic look; "gots to have it ridding low".
Engine modifications are essential after adding any force induction system. A Clutch Master Steel Clutch was added for better shifting. With more air been forced into the intake manifold JE pistons were swapped for the stock pistons; Crower Rods and Blocksleeve were also added.
Adding a T3/T4 turbo capable of producing good horse power ranges was a good choice. HKS SSQV Blow off valve and a Turbo timer came next. An MSD ignition, one of the best ignition systems on the market, an Air/Fuel Controller, Honda Civic Type-R wings and skirt, Gauges, in tank fuel pump injectors with a quality Alarm system and 3A Racing bucket seats completed the modifications.
